The standalone Learning Outcome 7 (LO7) from CiLCA, which is essential for claiming the General Power of Competence (GPoC), will be closing on August 1, 2025. This means that you must complete LO7 before this deadline to be eligible for GPoC.
Why is LO7 Important?
LO7 was introduced after the initial CiLCA qualification to ensure that council clerks have the necessary knowledge and skills to claim the General Power of Competence. This power allows local councils to do anything that individuals generally may do, as long as it is not prohibited by other laws. It provides councils with greater flexibility and the ability to better serve their communities.
What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?
If you do not complete LO7 before August 1, 2025, you will need to complete the updated CiLCA 2026 to claim the General Power of Competence. This means additional time and effort to meet the new requirements.
