E-Learning
Northants CALC are excited to be offering our member councils quality and affordable e-learning.
Each course is designed to take approximately 35-50 minutes to complete with a quiz at the end to test your knowledge. There is a pass rate of 80% required to achieve your certificate.
You can complete the e-learning on any platform (computer, smart phone or tablet), at a time and location that suits you. If you are unable to complete the e-learning course in one go you can resume where you last left off.
All council employees and councillors are welcome to access the e-learning.
E-learning is not intended to replace our virtual/physical classroom training.

Anti-Bribery Essentials
The Bribery Act 2010 was introduced to halt corruption and bribery in the UK, and in organisations associated with the UK.
This course helps you understand the Bribery Act and shows you how the provisions of this UK legislation function.

Climate Change and Environmental Awareness
Through this course, you'll explore the importance of being environmentally aware in your workplace, and discover the steps we can all take to reduce our negative impact on the climate.

Data Protection (GDPR)
We want to think this data is secure and well-managed. Anyone who processes personal data must comply with data protection rules and follow good practice in data management.
This elearning module includes a range of learning activities to help you develop your understanding of data protection.

Display Screen Equipment Awareness
This course explores DSE use, posture and the set-up of your workstation. At the end of the course you'll be given a quick quiz and have the opportunity to fill out a workstation assessment checklist to send to your employer so they can ensure you're working safely.

Emotional Intelligence and Personal Resilience
In this module we are going to explore what we mean by emotional intelligence and how to strengthen it in ourselves. We're going to to explore what we mean by personal resilience and we will consider what personal strategies and actions we can put in place to continually top up our resilience over time.

Equality and Diversity
To foster a culture of equal opportunity, businesses must embrace the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, placing them at the heart of their policies and procedures. As individuals, we have the responsibility to treat others fairly, just as we'd expect to be treated fairly ourselves.

Fire Safety
The best defence against such a force is to prevent fires from starting in the first place. This is only possible if we can understand the hazards and circumstances that lead to fire, and manage them appropriately.
This course includes a range of learning activities to help you develop your awareness of fire safety.

First Aid Essentials
This course addresses some basic first aid responses to common accident and medical emergency situations that you might face in a low-risk workplace. It includes a range of interactive activities, including video exercises.

Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act gives a structure to the way information is accessed and disclosed in the public domain.
This elearning module gives you a greater understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and explains how this legislation functions.

Health and Safety
Health and safety regulations have our best interests at heart; they seek to protect our physical and mental wellbeing in the workplace and are absolutely essential for all organisations operating under UK law.
This course includes a range of learning activities to help you develop your understanding of health and safety.

How To Work More Efficiently At Home
This course includes practical guidance and advice to help you work productively in your home-office environment.
It will provide some tips and advice on how to become an effective home worker, guidance on setting up your workspace, staying safe and secure, communicating remotely, and maintaining productivity while away from the office.

Human Factors In The Workplace
This course helps you understand types of human error and provides guidance on how to recognise and manage 'error traps'. You'll also gain an awareness of the Human Performance (HuP) tools that can help mitigate any error traps which can't be removed.

Information Security Awareness
This elearning course includes a range of learning activities to help you develop your understanding of information security.

Introduction to behavioural agility
This elearning module will give you a greater understanding of behavioural agility. It will provide you with practical advice to help you become more agile.

Introduction to changing behaviours
This elearning module will give you a greater understanding of how to change your habits. It will provide you with practical advice to help you address your habits and behaviours.

Leadership in challenging situations
This module is designed to provide Clerks, Council Officers and Councillors with an introduction to the skills needed to be effective leaders in the different roles we have, and the different situations we face, in our local councils.

Manual Handling
When we lift and move loads during our daily working life, it's vital that we know how to prevent injury - by actively reducing risks, a better awareness of posture, and using effective manual handling technique.
This elearning module includes a range of learning activities to help you develop your understanding of manual handling.

Mental health awareness
During this course we'll explore the causes and impact of things that can affect peoples mental health. In part one we'll be looking at depression, and in part two we'll cover stress. We'll also have tips on how to spot signs of mental health issues in yourself and others, and ways to stay mentally healthy.

Modern Slavery Awareness
Modern slavery is complex and hard to detect. Victims are often scared, abused and feel unable to escape, which is why greater public awareness is key to combatting this abhorrent crime.
This elearning module includes a range of learning activities to help you develop your understanding of modern slavery.

Money Laundering Awareness
'Money laundering' is a tactic used by criminals to turn profits from illegal activity into seemingly 'honest' proceeds. By legitimising these ill-gotten gains, criminality can continue to thrive, thereby funding further corruption and terrorism, undermining financial sectors and negatively impacting the economy as a whole.

Neurodiversity
This course aims to increase awareness of neurodiversity and explores ways we can support neurodiverse people.
Although titled Neurodiversity at Work, the principles of the course can be applied to council dynamics.

Personal resilience for councils and councillors
This module is designed to provide Clerks, Council Officers and Councillors with an introduction to emotional intelligence and personal resilience, which is sometimes abbreviated to EI&R.

Personal Safety
One of the biggest threats to personal safety is assuming 'it'll never happen to me' - but just because you haven't been affected by crime yet, doesn't mean you won't ever be.
This course includes a range of learning activities to help you increase your awareness of personal safety issues.

Respectful and positive social media
This module is designed to provide local councils and councillors with an introduction to strategies needed to get the most from positive communication and engagement on social media.

Stress Management
Most people experience stress from time to time, and this isn't necessarily bad; stress is a natural response, but prolonged periods of stress can be harmful. There are many ways in which you can reduce or avoid stress, and if you are experiencing stress already, there are approaches you can follow to manage your stress most effectively.

Team Leadership
It's important to remember that a leader does not become successful in isolation - they are products of their environments and the people surrounding them.
