Training and Education Grants: Empowering Local Councils
Are you working with local councils and looking to enhance your skills and knowledge? The Training and Education Grants scheme is here to help! This initiative aims to improve access to education for those involved with local (town, parish, and community) councils. Whether you're an officer of a local council, part of a principal authority, or a councillor, this grant is for you.
What Can the Grant Be Used For?
The grant can be used to support a variety of educational activities, including:
Course Fees and Qualifications: Covering the costs of enrolling in courses and obtaining relevant qualifications.
Training Events, Conferences, and Seminars: Supporting attendance at both in-person and remote events, including travel costs, childcare, or other caring expenses.
Books and Equipment: Providing the necessary resources to facilitate your studies.
How to Apply
Applications for the grant are considered every two months. To apply, you must be an individual who will need to name the council(s) you represent, if applicable. If you represent more than one council, please provide details of all councils on the application form.
Prioritisation Criteria
While all applications are considered, priority is given to:
- Individuals who have not received a grant before.
- Applications from councils with an annual turnover of under £25,000.
They look for applications that demonstrate how the grant will support activities meeting their funding objectives, explain the benefits for the local community served by a local council, and outline how a lack of funding presents an obstacle to learning.
